Barcelona Tapas Tour – Local Tapas
This experience includes your private tour plus a selection of high quality tapas and drinks around Barcelona.
Tapas, Like a Local
Barcelona blends its fresh Mediterranean cuisine with the gastronomic traditions of its eclectic mix of settlers from around Spain and the world, resulting in a delightfully diverse array of tapas and places in which to enjoy them.
A rustic evening of tapas n’ drinks in neighborhood bars you won’t find in guidebooks.
Take part in an authentic tapas-bar-hopping experience and learn the history of this centuries-old dining tradition while strolling through Barcelona’s distinct ‘barrios’. You’ll enjoy tasty treats in joints the locals have frequented for decades: from fresh olives, Manchego cheeses, and fried squid, to sautéed mushrooms, spicy tuna salad, and ‘patatas bravas’, and drinks such as a spicy, home-brewed vermouth, or a ‘clara’ – the combination of beer and lemon soda so characteristic on these corners.
This experience includes your private, informational tour and the opportunity to discover three different rustic, hole-in-the-wall tapas bars, in three separate neighborhoods, from the historic and quaint Gothic Quarter to the sea-side Barceloneta, teaming with raw charm and personality. Food and drink is not included, so you’ll pay as you go, which allows for more freedom and flexibility in terms of how much you want (or are able) to eat.
Keep in mind, these are local joints, where we or any Barcelona native would eat, and tourists would unlikely find on their own. This means that everyone shares off of plates in the middle of the table, and it’s not uncommon to find yourself eating with toothpicks or chucking your used napkins on the floor. Standing at the bar while waiting for a table (in at least one of the joints) is to be expected. In order to make sure you get a full and rich experience, we generally suggest what dishes and drinks to order, however, we are flexible depending on your specific likes and dislikes, which you can discuss with us or your guide.

Tapas, with Class
Increasingly since the 1992 Olympics, Barcelona has become a cosmopolitan city, attracting individuals from around the world, who bring with them fresh ideas and their own gastronomic traditions. These worldly influences coupled with Barcelona’s newfound trendiness and creative vibe, collide with the city’s classic Spanish-Catalan-Mediterranean cuisine and you’re left with an eclectic and sometimes exotic array of innovative and delicious dining options, from high-end Michelin-star establishments, to small, off-the-beaten-track tapas joints.
Take part in a classy tapas bar-hopping experience and learn about the history of tapas and their evolution, in Barcelona, into a designer, hip, and healthy phenomenon.
You’ll enjoy elaborate treats, from candied duck and zucchini ‘carpaccio’, to Iberian ham, and seared tuna. You’ll also sample some of the well-known regional wines and bubbly ‘cava’: Catalunya’s pride and joy.
This experience includes your private, informational tour in three different hole-in-the-wall tapas bars, in three separate neighborhoods, from the historic and picturesque Gothic Quarter to the glamorous Born, now one of Barcelona’s most fashionable shopping districts by day and busiest drinking and dining areas by night. The abundant selection of high quality, stylish tapas and drinks is not included, so you’ll pay as you go and see how much you’re able to consume along the way.
Keep in mind, these are local joints, where we or any Barcelona native would eat, and tourists would unlikely find on their own. In order to make sure you get a full and rich experience, we generally recommend various dishes and drinks to order, however, we are flexible depending on your specific likes and dislikes, which you can discuss with us or your guide.
There’s no need to dress formally for this tour. The food is contemporary and upscale, but the atmosphere is friendly and casual.

Barcelona Wine Tastings Tour
Sample the tastiest Catalán wines and ‘cavas’ in a trendy local wine shop.
Wine Tasting & ‘Pica Pica’
It’s no secret that Spain is well known for its superior red wines. But, did you know that Catalunya is one of Spain’s largest producers, consisting of mainly organic, family-run vineyards, churning out some the country’s most exclusive vintages? With ten wine-growing regions – most notably the high-brow ‘Priorat’ and the multi-faceted ‘Penedès’ – and over 3000 years of grape-harvesting tradition, Catalunya also invented the Spanish answer to champagne, known as ‘cava’.
Taste the best in local pica pica and Catalan wines around Barcelona with our private tour.
Who wouldn’t jump at the opportunity to enjoy a special selection of Catalan wines in a chic yet quaint neighborhood shop, with the help of our non-pretentious experts. “The Girls”, as we know them, will talk you through the tasting session, wine by wine, and win over your hearts in the process. In all, you’ll consume four full glasses: two reds, one white, and one cava. To accompany the wines, we’ll provide a typical ‘pica-pica’ assortment of local finger-foods: olives, nuts, bread and cheeses.

Private Catalan Cooking Class
A unique and memorable experience with a personal chef.
Delectable Catalan Feast
The Mediterranean diet is healthy and tantalizing: fresh seafood, wild mushrooms, almond-stuffed olives, refreshing gazpacho, spicy peppers, sautéed fava beans, tomato bread, ‘sangria de cava’. Those are some of the simple and tasty dishes that have been common in Catalunya for generations. Barcelona’s cuisine, however, becomes something entirely new, when it collides with the current trends of designer ‘tapas’ and creative, “deconstructionist” cuisine, pioneered by such local greats as Ferran Adrià.
Experience the gastronomy of Barcelona and Catalunya head on! Indulge in a three-part Delectable Catalan Feast, with your own, personal chef
I) First, a visit to the most spirited and oldest market in Spain, ‘La Boqueria’ with the company of an English-speaking chef, who will help you gather the perfect combination of typical ingredients, and discuss the origins of each. Expose yourself to “Open Season in the Open Market”: endure the competitive elbowing of the Catalan ‘señoras’, who struggle to purchase the freshest products at the lowest price. And be whisked away by the colors and smells of fresh herbs and veggies, garlic, saffron, olive oil, chocolate, and more. It’s a sensory adventure.
II) Then, with your goods in hand, head back to a beautiful, industrial-sized kitchen, where you and your friendly chef will prepare the quintessential Catalan feast. Meanwhile, learn about the dishes, while perfecting your craft as you go.
III) Lastly, sit back, relax, and enjoy the leisurely-paced mealtime ritual, a rarity in today’s hectic world. Delight in your chef’s lively personality. Miraculously, satisfy your hunger without feeling too full or bloated when you’re done; that’s the beauty of the Catalán diet, and the art of the professional chef.
This experience includes all food and drinks, local wines, and dessert, and we hope, some leftovers to take home as well! We’ll provide you with a couple of sample menus, consisting of traditional Mediterranean-Spanish dishes, with a touch of 21st-Century individuality. If you’d like to propose a ‘tapas’ menu, something more gourmet, or a different type of cuisine entirely, we’ll be happy to put something together for you!
You will enjoy this experience with your own personal chef and gastronomic expert and will not be accompanied by one of our regular historical guides.
