Mediterranean Wine Escape: a private day trip to Penedès
One family's vineyard, one private tasting, no crowds — just you, the vines, and a Catalan lunch worth the drive.
What this day actually looks like
We'll drive you out to Wine Country to visit our favorite winery in Penedès: a small, family-run bodega set beside a
300-year-old farmhouse, with vineyards that are 100% organic. Unlike the region's bigger commercial producers, this one doesn't take regular tourist groups, for the day, the vineyard is yours.
One of the sons of the family will lead the tour, walking you through the bodega inside and out before guiding a proper five-wine tasting: two reds, two whites, and a cava. Then you'll head out into the vines themselves, in a 4x4, learning about the local grape varieties and the soil that shapes them, Penedès sits on a patchwork of limestone and clay that changes character from one hillside to the next.
Afterwards, we'll take you to a nearby masia, a centuries-old stone farmhouse, for a traditional Catalan lunch: regional dishes, dessert, and good wine to go with it. If you consider yourself a foodie, this is the part of the day you'll talk about for weeks.
Getting there and back is in a private car or minivan with a driver, so there's no need to think about who's driving home after the tasting.
