Barcelona Mediterranean Food Tour
“Foodies”: taste and smell your way through open markets and small specialty shops.
Mediterranean Gourmet
What better way to understand and experience a culture than through its cuisine? Chocolate and sea salt?! It’s a strange combination, but a winning one here in Barcelona! In fact, this city has quickly become one of the foremost destinations for food-lovers everywhere. Coupled with Barcelona’s surplus of trendy tapas joints and fantastic dining establishments, the City boasts forty-four astounding open-air food markets and thousands of unique and enticing boutiques – many over 100 years old – speckled throughout its diverse neighborhoods.
Experience the contemporary cuisine for which Barcelona is known through our Mediterranean cuisine tour.
While weaving through the medieval alleyways of Barcelona’s historic quarters, receive “insider information” on Catalunya’s delicious local cuisine and sensational wines, from our culinary expert. Tantalize your taste buds, challenge your knowledge of food, and open your eyes (and mouths) to local gourmet treats: mini-stuffed peppers, cheeses, cured meats, olive oils, wine & ‘cava’, and chocolate! Feel free to pick up some souvenirs to take home along the way. Experience the contemporary cuisine for which Barcelona is known through small tastes and samples of the ingredients that bring it together. See what everyday people are buying, and what they’re using it for. And, ultimately, connect with the culture and people of Barcelona in a more profound way. Lip-smacking and educational for any gourmet lover.
Keep in mind, these are local joints, where we or any Barcelona native would eat, and tourists would unlikely find on their own. This means that everyone shares off of plates in the middle of the table, and it’s not uncommon to find yourself eating with toothpicks or chucking your used napkins on the floor. Standing at the bar while waiting for a table (in at least one of the joints) is to be expected. In order to make sure you get a full and rich experience, we generally suggest what dishes and drinks to order, however, we are flexible depending on your specific likes and dislikes, which you can discuss with us or your guide.

You will enjoy this experience with the company of your own gastronomic expert, and will not be accompanied by one of our regular historical guides. The Mediterranean Gourmet experience is not officially intended to be a meal substitute, although it does include several tastes along the way and a larger snack with some wine at the end of the tour. Unless you’re a hefty eater, you should probably avoid making meal arrangements after this tour, as your thirst and hunger will likely be quenched.
